Halloween is my absolute favorite time of the year, and perhaps even more than I do at Christmas time and around the holidays, I always feel the need to give my close friends and family a gift or two.
This year, instead of just buying them random, pre-packaged gifts and goods, I decided to give Halloween-themed gift baskets to them. I got the idea when I was shopping at a local store in town called Joan’s Village Card and Gift, and I saw that Joan (the store owner that the shop is named after) had these really neat gift baskets for sale.
The price was very good, so I picked up five of them. I decided to give one each to my brother, his girlfriend Andrea, my mother, my father, and my best friend Laura.
The baskets were medium-sized and made of wood, and contained a really fun array of different Halloween-themed stuff. There was some black and orange bows and stickers stuck on the plastic wrap that kept everything inside, which made them look really nice and decorate.
From what I can remember, the baskets were made up of two Halloween-themed movies on DVD, Trick ‘r Treat and Hocus Pocus, some delicious sweets and cookies that were shaped like ghosts and other monsters, a Halloween picture book called The Legend of the Brog, a package made up of face paint, a little glow-in-the-dark jack-o-lantern toy, and a vial of fake, decorative blood for costumes.
I was really surprised to find such a unique basket for such a good price. Even if some of the contents weren’t really aimed at an adult audience, I thought it would be a nice gesture to give a few of them out to the people closest to me, and those who embrace and love Halloween as much as I do.
Fortunately for me, it turned out everyone absolutely loved their baskets, and Laura and I even ended up watching both of the movies together on Halloween night. It was a lot of fun, and I couldn’t have been happier with my decision to purchase and give the baskets.
