I received a Halloween Gift Basket for myself and my son. My ex mother in law handmade it and gave it to us as a Halloween gift.
It was a beautiful black basket with orange shredding that had two black taper candles, caramel apples, a stuffed bat, candy corn, chocolate Halloween candies, a small bag of Reece’s pieces in clear cellophane, a mini scarecrow, a light up pin, two coffee mugs with a Halloween design on them, two packs of spiced apple cider, several honey straws, homemade rice crispies, a small block of peanut butter fudge, a box of Halloween peeps, a pair of glow in the dark vampire teeth, several Halloween pencils with crazy erasers, a small Halloween writing tablet with blank pages inside, and lots of other small candy treats that were in the coffe mugs and scattered in the basket.
The basket was wrapped in cellophane with huge black and orange bows and swirl ribbons. She custom makes these items and simply accepts orders through word of mouth referrals, and a Facebook page. I believe if she were to have sold that particular basket it would have cost around $75.00 or $85.00 dollars.
She normally makes them to order and the turn around time is about a week. The are beautiful and it is all in the small details she adds to them and the way she customizes and finds out favorite candies, colors, home decor themes, styles, etc. of the recipiants of the baskets.
She is way cheaper and the quality is better than the online sites that are so generic with their orders.
We live in a small town called Dahlonega in Georgia about an hour north of Atlanta. Their are several florists in the area that offer gift baskets, but again very generic and over priced. She meets her customers for pick up or they can come to her and if it is a first time orde she requires at least half of the cost up front.
She also makes several baskets that she always has on hand at a few different price points for on the spot sales. She has had lots of success and lots of great feedback and of course adds good ‘ol southern hospitality to the mix.
